Daily Hat Trick - Shooting Circuits
It's actually very simple - having a great shot in hockey simply takes practice. The more you practice the better your shot. If you practice it a lot, you will have a great shot and score lots of goals.
The good news is that if you can find a little space and hang an old rug or find another suitable target, you have all you need to develop a great shot.
Shooting with Purpose
When practicing your shot, it is good to have an overall plan that will make the most of your time. Shooting circuits are suggestions that will help give your shooting time some progressive and measurable advancement.
Below are a few sample shooting circuits that you can use or modify to make shooting fun and purposeful. We will post more circuits over time. Enjoy!
| Circuit #1 - Golf |
|---|
| Set up 3-5 targets. Suggest four targets representing the corners of a net - but anything will do. |
| Count how many shots it takes to hit all the targets. Shoot at one target until you hit it. Like golf, the lower the better. (Unlike golf, you don't use the same puck!) |
| Track your 'score' and try to improve it by shooting the 'course' everyday. |
| Circuit #2 - Vary your Base | |
|---|
| Basic base where you step into the shot with 'outside' leg (left leg for right shooters) | 20 Shots |
| Shoot from 'two-foot glide' position with both feet on ground, facing target | 20 Shots |
| Shoot balancing on 'inside' leg (right leg for right shooters). | 20 Shots |
| Shoot balancing on 2x4. Experiment/vary the angle the board is to your target. | 20 Shots |
| Shoot with one knee on groud. | 20 Shots |
| Total | 100 Shots |
